pregnant women to make decisions that improve their own health and that of their baby during pregnancy through improved nutrition,” Ms Kwan said. “The partnership with Vitamin Angels is part of Bayer Consumer Health’s ‘Nutrient gap’ initiative, an ambition to enable access to essential vitamins and minerals for people in underserved communities, bringing Bayer’s global vision, ‘Health for all, hunger for none’ to life.” The objectives that Elevit and Vitamin Angels have set their sights on will lead them to further supporting sustainable pregnancies, says Ms Kwan. “Preventing multiple micronutrient deficiencies early in pregnancy can help mitigate poor pregnancy outcomes and long-term health and economic consequences for individuals and societies,” she said. Ms Kwan continued: “This collaboration will work to ensure sustainable access to MMS for future generations of pregnant women.” Future sustainable goals The partnership is aimed at ensuring all dimensions of micronutrient access for mothers and soon- to-be mothers are addressed in underserved communities. “Today, less than one per cent of global development investment is in nutrition,3 yet micronutrients are essential to ensuring every child has the best start in life,” Ms Kwan said. “With this in mind, Every Beginning has an important role to play in elevating the importance of addressing micronutrient malnutrition globally, ultimately aiming to create the systemic changes needed to ensure every child gets the best start in life.” To learn more about Every Beginning, visit: elevit.com.au/everybeginning References 1.
