The event will also feature more than 30 industry and expert speakers. Mr Thurin, a qualified pharmacist, brings a diverse perspective to Pharmacy Connect. After spending more than two decades running businesses, including pharmacies, he decided to pursue his dream of attaining a black belt in martial arts at age 36. He exceeded his goal by earning a third ‘Dan’ black belt in taekwondo and realised, through his hard work, that just about everything in life could be boiled down to a choice between ‘easy to do’ and ‘easy not to do’. “Big-picture goals can be so daunting that often people don’t have the courage to get into the game,” he said when asked about common keys to success. “I say it’s OK to feel awkward, it’s OK to feel uncomfortable, but don’t allow those feelings to prevent you from making a start. Good intentions will get you nowhere. You have to do something. Taking that first step is always ‘easy to do’, but it’s also ‘easy not to do’.” Mr Thurin’s aim in delivering his address at Pharmacy Connect is to help attendees find the inspiration, enthusiasm and determination they need to achieve their goals.
