10 EDITOR’S LETTER EDITOR’S LETTER I’ve always felt privileged to be able to work in a job I enjoy. There’s nothing I’d rather do more than put this publication together for you and I feel particularly thrilled to be able to bring this issue to you as we celebrate 30 years of Retail Pharmacy. With its humble beginnings in a world when printing was the main platform to communicate with and inform its readers, Retail Pharmacy made its mark by carving out a niche in community pharmacy by talking to you not only as pharmacists but also as businesspeople. This legacy is still at the forefront of everything we do. Throughout the years, Retail Pharmacy has evolved and will continue to do so, to meet the demands of the times. However, what is at its core won’t change. We see you as health professionals but also as people who need to run a business efficiently and successfully. We’ll always be here to help. To all the editors, journalists and production and administration people that came before me, thank you for fulfilling a vision and not giving up when so many doubted the publication would succeed. To the team now behind this amazing masthead, thank you as you all continue to work hard and believe in what we do every day. For those who’ll come later, I hope you’ll take this publication to even higher levels, because the sky’s the limit when you truly believe in what you do, which is how I’ve always felt when it comes to this publication. Happy 30th anniversary! This is also a special issue of the publication because by the time you get to read these pages, and if all goes well and no issues prevent the event from going ahead, I’ll hopefully be catching up with many of you personally at APP2021, 20-23 May. I’m so looking forward to attending this year and to have the opportunity to network face-to-face again and to hear from industry figures about the latest developments in our trade – not to mention sharing our professional and personal experiences of the past year, since Covid-19 disturbed us. A close pharmacy friend remarked in regard to attending APP this year, “I’m having conference withdrawal”, and I think I am too. There’s never been such an important time as this for keeping updated with the latest and most accurate information on all sorts of significant changes in the pharmaceutical industry, especially as developments affecting pharmacy practice are evolving as I write. Due to the demanding reality of editorial and printing deadlines, which require ample time to deliver a final product, we’ve opted to provide in-depth coverage in these pages of what’s been circulating in the industry and what’s important to the everyday running of your community pharmacy. So, when you have time, grab a cuppa and learn about what your peers in the industry – from pharmacists to product suppliers – are doing to enhance their business offer. You can find all this and much more, here. For the most immediate, daily and hourly news ranging from Covid updates to the latest in research progress, I heartily urge you to visit our website every day for a regular, up-to-date fix of news. We do keep revising our websites for the latest and most accurate coverage of developments that may concern you. So, to keep up with the latest news, please visit: retailpharmacymagazine. com.au and rpassistants.com.au. I invite you all to thoroughly investigate this issue of Retail Pharmacy. We’ve carefully selected the topics explored and will continue to do so to keep you informed and at the top of your game. As always, if you have something in mind you wish to discuss with me to make this publication even better, please reach out to me. Last but not least, to all our readers, thank you for your continued support. See you all soon Managing Editor RETAIL PHARMACY • MAY 2021
