                  EVENTS PRIMO THE SUPREMO AS SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR Primo Foods took out the top honour at the 2019 Metcash Supplier of the Year Awards. T he third annual Metcash  Supplier of the Year Awards  event was held at The Star,  Sydney in early March with comedian, TV panellist and radio host Ed Kavalee as MC. The awards presented acknowledged the “ongoing commitment, passion and dedication” the suppliers showed throughout the year in their support of independent retailers in Australia. “The suppliers that received awards are well deserving and truly embody the spirit of what it means to work in collaboration with our retailers to help aid their success,” Metcash Food CEO Scott Marshall said. Primo Foods was the big winner, 26 RETAIL WORLD APR, 2020 being named Supplier of the Year as well as Delicatessen Supplier of the Year and Perishable Supplier of the Year (under $50m). “The team at Primo have had an extraordinary year, achieving great sales results across the board,” Primo Foods GM Sales Jaimie Eastley said. “Our strategic partnership with Metcash continues to grow and this award is a true testament to that.” As well as celebrating the success and achievements of suppliers, several key charities were supported at the event. “We’re pleased to be able to continue to support some of the charitable partners that help our communities to thrive,” Mr Marshall said. “Through the generosity of those in attendance, we were able to raise $120,800 for each of our three long-term national partners – Special Olympics, the McGrath Foundation and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation – through donations, raffle tickets and the silent auction.
