FOR VIRTUAL
MOTHER’S
DAY CLASSIC
The Women in Super Mother’s
Day Classic (MDC), promoted as
Australia’s largest breast cancer
fundraiser, will collaborate with
Vision Australia Radio (VAR) as its
digital community broadcaster to
celebrate the event on Mother’s Day
(Sunday, May 10).
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions,
the MDC is running as a virtual
interactive event and offering
supporters as well as the broader
community the opportunity to
participate in a virtual challenge.
Registered participants gain access
to an exclusive array of interactive
content to become “a part of
something big and contribute to
making a real difference on this
special day”.
The MDC and VAR will deliver
a two-hour broadcast on Mother’s
Day, to “unite the community
and help raise awareness and
funds for life-changing breast
cancer research”.
The Fathering Project, a not-for-profit
organisation founded by cancer
researcher Dr Bruce Robinson, who was
named 2014 West Australian of the Year,
has launched the free-to-join Fathering
Channel online, aimed at supporting
fathers across Australia through engaging,
expert and research-led topical content
around fathering in the COVID-19 scenario.
The organisation says that with more
than two million Australians now working
from home, children being home-
schooled and studying online, dinner
tables becoming shared workspaces
and dads juggling conference calls with
kitchen duties, it has had to adapt and
look to new ways to connect with its
established Dads Groups and maintain
the much-needed support.
The Fathering Channel supports
fathers and father figures through online
CHANNELING FATHERLY HELP ONLINE
and state-based Dads Group forums,
weekly webinars, podcasts, videos,
research-based materials and light-
hearted celebrity conversations.
Additionally, it calls out to fathers
across Australia to “apron up and make
Wednesday night Dads Cook Night” with
a few tips from chef/restaurateur Luke
Mangan “for moral support”.
“This time of home isolation can
either be a trial or a joy for dads and
for the whole family,” Dr Robinson said.
“The Fathering Project’s tips, forums,
videos and other interesting programs
will make it a joy – a time the kids will
look back on and say, ‘That was a
wonderful family time’.”

HKWS President Louise McCann says
women at risk are especially vulnerable

CALL TO BOOST INDUSTRY EFFORTS
OVER RISK TO WOMEN
“Social distancing and isolation
throughout COVID-19 means vulnerable
women in our community face greater
barriers to accessing help,” she said.
“It’s critical at this time that health
professionals and domestic violence
service providers work together to
ensure women have access to the vital
support services they need.”

Tonic Health Media says customers
can use the Chemist2U app to fill

can choose to use existing staff for

“We believe Chemist2U will drive
sustainable growth for partner

pandemic, thanks to the rising
popularity of purchasing over mobile

Dr Cullen said.
