Professional services pharmacist This role should be given to the most appropriate pharmacist in your team, to not only deliver professional services to patients but also be responsible for the business outcomes. Not all pharmacists want to be the professional services pharmacist or have the aptitude for it. Some pharmacists would rather a role dispensing or managing. It’s important to select a clinically minded pharmacist with good communication skills who is passionate about professional services. Key skills required: • Desire and enthusiasm to assist customers with their health needs. • Attention to detail. • Confidence. • Excellent communication skills. • Willingness to develop. • Basic to intermediate understanding of professional services. Dispensary assistant Without the right workflow in place and a smooth running of your dispensary it can be hard for the pharmacist to deliver services to your patients. The dispensary assistant is the engine of the dispensary and it is their role to efficiently execute and manage dispensary workflow, processes and management to allow maximum patient interaction with the pharmacist. Key skills required: • Advanced Microsoft Office and typing skills. • Attention to detail. • Customer service. • Organising and problem solving. • Ability to multitask. • Good initiative.
