SANOFI WELCOMES HAEMOPHILIA TREATMENT FUNDING MOVE Eligible Australians living with haemophilia now have access to extended half-life (EHL) treatments Eloctate and Alprolix via national supply arrangements, a move welcomed by Sanofi Genzyme Australia and New Zealand General Manager Fiona Clark. “We’re passionate about ensuring these treatments become available to people living with haemophilia,” she said. “The announcement reflects our continued commitment to helping improve the lives of all Australians living with rare blood disorders.” Eloctate (for haemophilia A) and Alprolix (for haemophilia B) are EHL factor replacement therapies that are retained in the bloodstream for longer compared with existing standard half-life (SHL) factor replacement therapies, and may allow for fewer infusions compared with SHL. Both Eloctate and Alprolix can be infused regularly as prophylaxis therapy or can be used as on-demand therapy. Eloctate is a long-acting factor VIII replacement therapy (recombinant), indicated in adults and children with haemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency) for control and prevention of bleeding episodes (on-demand therapy), routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes (prophylaxis therapy), and perioperative management (surgical prophylaxis).1 Alprolix is a long-acting factor IX replacement therapy (recombinant), indicated in adults and children with haemophilia B (congenital factor IX deficiency) for control and prevention of bleeding episodes (on-demand therapy), routine prophylaxis to prevent or reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes (prophylaxis therapy), and perioperative management (surgical prophylaxis).2 For more information about Eloctate and Alprolix, contact Sanofi Medical Information on 1800 818 806.
